Neck Cramps and Back Aches
This was the first overseas trip ever for the Columbia City Jazz Dance Company, and the first part of a two country tour in Europe. We spent June 24 through the 29th in Bulgaria, mounting one dance performance in Plovdiv, and then flew to Austria.
With a great deal of excitement our group boarded the bus in Columbia, South Carolina, on the way to the airport in Charlotte. I don't think anybody realized that we would be traveling for almost 24 hours straight to reach our first destination in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. We had a few people in the company that had never even flown before! The first few hours of the trip was pretty exciting for everyone. However, once we boarded our flight in Chicago and headed overseas towards our next connection in Frankfurt, our dancers spent a lot of time looking like the picture above!
