Dale Lam - Modern and Lyrical Jazz

Dale Lam - Choreographer and Jazz Dance InstructorDale is the artistic director and choreographer of the Columbia City Jazz Dance Company and is on the dance faculty at the University of South Carolina. She has taught master classes at the Kiradjiev Cultural Center in Bulgaria, the Singapore Dance Association at Lasale College of the Arts, and choreographs and conducts master classes at studios and dance conventions across the United States.

Dale has appeared in MTV's "Made", choreographed television commercials with stars such as Orlando Jones, corporate and industrial presentations, has conducted several successful after-school dance programs in South Carolina, and has been featured in issues of "Dance Spirit" and "Dance Teacher" magazines for her inspired lyrical and contemporary jazz choreography.

 

Kiyomi Mercadante Marple - Ballet

Kiyomi comes to Columbia City Jazz from Texas where she was the Artistic Director and principal dancer with the Dallas Dance Company, and from the Adacemy of Dance Arts in Texas, where she taught Cecchetti Ballet classes for student level exams and was the Associate Artistic Director of the Dallas Repertoire Ballet. Kiyomi is an associate member of the Cecchetti Council of America (CCA) and holds a CCA certified teacher certificate.

 

Bonnie Boiter-Jolley - Ballet

Charley Ann Smart - Office Manager graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College with degrees in Dance Performance and Choreography and Political Science. While studying at the university she was fortunate to perform numerous works from the Balanchine Trust as well as by choreographers Twyla Tharp, Lyla York, Kevin O’Day, Thaddeus Davis and Alan Hineline. Bonnie has been privileged to work with Wideman Davis Dance with whom she performed in the NYC Summerstage festival in 2010 and has just completed a season dancing under Donald Byrd at Spectrum Dance Theater in Seattle.

 

Kristen Roszell - Tap

As a young dancer and artist in training, Kristen Roszell is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from Columbia College. She is currently a member of the Columbia College Dance Company, DanceLab (improvisation group), and Unbound Dance Company. She holds the position of President of the Columbia College Dance Company and Treasurer of the Columbia College Chapter of the National Dance Education Organization. Recently, she became a certified Zumba instructor. Kristen Roszell is seeking to further diversify in her knowledge of dance and to impact dancers of all ages with her burning passion for the art.

Talin Kenar - Ballet

Talin Kenar - BalletTalin Kenar is in charge of our ballet programs. Talin started her training at the North Coast Ballet School in San Diego, and continued on at the San Diego Ballet School and then the Royal Ballet School in Longon, England. Her professional experience includes positions with the Hong Kong Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Victoria/Australian Ballet, the Colorado Ballet, Carolina Ballet and Columbia Classical Ballet.

 

Shannon Manning - Children's Programs

Shannon Manning - Children's ProgramsShannon Manning comes to us from Las Vegas, where she performed nightly with world renowned "Siegfried and Roy" at the Mirage for eight years. Her professional career began at 17, when she was hand picked by Paula Abdul to be in Janet Jackson's first music video "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" She appeared on the 1980s hit series "Fame". Shannon toured the United States and Canada with the stage rendition of the movie "Dirty Dancing" choreographed by Doriana Sanchez. Her training includes San Francisco Ballet School, Marin Ballet School, and Dupree Dance Academy with scholarships at the later two.

 

Emily Enloe - Children’s Programs and Tap

From Knoxville, TN, Emily Enloe graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in Dance Education where she received the Magellan Scholar award for work on the iDance SC project with Dr. Mila Parrish that taught dance to a local high school students through videoconferencing. Since graduating, Emily has become the dance specialist at Southeast Middle School, and began working on her Master’s degree USC. She continues to work as a graduate assistant to Dr. Mila Parrish on various dance education projects.

 

Charley Ann Smart - Office Manager

Charley Ann Smart - Office ManagerCharley Ann Smart graduated from the University of South Carolina with degrees in Exercise Science and Psychology and a minor in Dance Performance. She has been involved with dance her entire life, performing and competing with her home studio in Sumter, SC. She is currently a graduate student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of South Carolina.
